Artificial Intelligence is leading a new round of scientific and technological revolution，and becoming a frontier hotspot and a competitive high ground for education and scientific research in the world. It is regarded as a key support for innovation and development in the outlines of the “14th five-year” plan and the long-range objectives through the year 2035 of China.

Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications is one of the earliest institutions in China to engage in artificial intelligence talent cultivation and scientific research. It is an affiliated unit of the Chinese Association of Artificial Intelligence (CAAI).

In response to the significant national strategy and the pressing demand for Artificial Intelligence talent, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications accessed the situation and established the largest School of Artificial Intelligence in China on January 7, 2020, pooling together more than 100 outstanding faculty members in the field. The School of Artificial Intelligence comprises three departments: the Department of Intelligent Information Engineering, the Department of Intelligent Science and Technology, and the Department of Brain Cognition and Intelligent Medicine. It offers three undergraduate programs: Information Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Intelligent Medical Engineering. The School of Artificial Intelligence has established two first-level discipline doctoral and master’s programs in Information and Communication Engineering, and Computer Science and Technology, as well as two second-level discipline doctoral and master’s programs in Intelligent Science and Technology, and Interdisciplinary Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, the School of Artificial Intelligence houses national and provincial-level teaching and research bases and international cooperation bases, such as the ‘Information Content Security Technology’ national engineering laboratory, and the ‘Interactive Technology and Experience Systems’ key laboratory of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
