A doctoral and master's degree authorization point for the second level discipline of Intelligent Science and Technology, belonging to Computer Science and Technology group, is established in Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) in 2009. Intelligent Science and Technology discipline has combined the characteristics of information technology in BUPT, developed the basic theory of artificial intelligence, natural language processing and applications, multi-modal computing and applications based on information science, and formed its own characteristics and advantages.

The researchers and teachers belonging to this discipline has undertaken a number of national projects, cooperative research and development projects with well-known international and domestic enterprises, and cultivated a group of high-level outstanding talent.

The research areas are including: (1) Speech and natural language processing, multimodal computing; (2)Visual understanding and intelligent decision-making; (3)Medical big data and brain cognition; （4）Cultural computing and generative AI.
