The Center of Artificial Intelligence and Web Search Research/Professor Guo Jun's Team

Time:June 24, 2024

The research center is one of the earliest academic teams in China to engage in teaching and research in the fields of artificial intelligence and web search. The research center has top-tier academic scholars and has secured a leading position in multiple areas, including handwritten Chinese character recognition, face recognition, remote sensing image recognition, and information retrieval and recommendation. The research center has been awarded the first prize of the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Progress Award by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, the second prize of the Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award, and the first prize of the Technology Invention Award by the China Society for Image and Graphics. Over the past five years, we have published over 500 papers in top journals and conferences, including TPAMI, TIP, IJCV, NeurIPS, CVPR, ICCV, and ACL, and obtained over 50 authorized invention patents. Thousands of master's and doctoral graduates are well-trained for the nation.

The research center currently has 23 faculty members, including 5 professors (two of whom are granted as National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and Science Fund Program for Excellent Young Scientists (overseas)), 15 associate professors, one lecturer, and two postdoctoral researchers. The research directions cover the field of artificial intelligence and web search, including foundational theories of pattern recognition and machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, big data mining, web retrieval, audio and video retrieval, information recommendation, knowledge graphs, dialogue systems, intelligent sensing, and intelligent network management.
